Employee training is perhaps the single most important and most effective process that organizations can invest in to keep their workers safe and to better prepare them to respond when an emergency occurs. That is why the Industrial Emergency Council offers such a wide range of courses taught by quality instructors with extensive field experience. Each of the courses is described in more detail throughout this web site.

All course presentations meet and/or exceed training requirements established by federal regulations such as:

Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)

Department of Transportation (DOT)

National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)

State Fire Marshals

Each course may be enhanced by addressing specific areas of concern or interest, such as company site specific concerns and chemical specific hazards. Customization is available to accommodate the unique needs of the individual customer. Content can be adapted to reflect the materials or hazards that employees are exposed to, the type of operations performed by the company, and the company's specific Standard Operating Procedures. Course scheduling is flexible as well.

Another advantage is the ability to consolidate training programs by combining multiple topics into one course. The course content is customized to meet the specific needs of the customer. Combining multiple topics simplifies documentation and scheduling, while meeting many mandated requirements. It also provides continuity in training and team building that is sometimes not possible when the courses are presented separately. And, it often saves time and money for the customer by eliminating redundancy between classes.

One of the Industrial Emergency Council's strengths is the partnerships formed with other private and public agencies both on state and national levels. Several of our courses carry multiple certifications from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Department of Transportation (DOT), and/or state agencies such as the State Fire Marshal's Office, the California Office of Emergency Services.

Specialized Training Institute (CSTI), and the Department of Industrial Relations. Many are taught through the California Community Colleges, making it possible for students to earn units of community college semester units.

The Industrial Emergency Council also offers site safety assessments to assist businesses with regulatory compliance in the areas of emergency preparedness and Injury and Illness Prevention programs. The goal is to create an effective safety program that results in a safer workplace; greater protection of life, property and the environment; reduced liability exposure; higher profits; and quicker business recovery if a problem does occur.

The Industrial Emergency Council has the ability to provide additional funds to fire departments based on the in-service training currently conducted with all members of your department. We currently partner with many fire departments in the Bay area in this program which is run through Palo Verde Community College. Each member receives .5 units of college credit per semester.

This course is designed to assure a basic and predictable level of safety, knowledge, skills and abilities among those individuals assigned to a Municipal Fire Department and members of State Urban Search and Rescue Teams.
