Description: This course trains first responders at the operations level to respond to releases or potential releases of hazardous substances as part of an initial response. Course participants will learn how to protect nearby persons, property, or the environment from the effects of a hazmat release by responding in a defensive fashion without actually trying to stop the release. This course will train personnel to contain the release from a safe distance, keep it from spreading, and prevent exposures. This course combines lecture, group activities, exercises and a written exam. This program meets OSHA requirements and NFPA recommendations for training at the First Responder Operations level.
